Film Night Out - Overcomer

To tell you anymore would completely give away the story. Suffice it to say that these characters discover interconnections and inspiration that leads them to overcome the obstacles in their lives.

A group from our congregation went to see the Kendrick Brothers' film Overcomer.

It follows the struggles of Coach John Harrison and his family. As the film opens, he is looking at winning the state high school basketball championship next year. Then the bottom falls out of his dream when the largest manufacturing plant in his small town shuts down and his best players and their families move out of town to find new jobs. Then he has to take a pay cut and take on the job of coaching the  school's cross-country team. When he meets his team its only one young girl, Hannah Scott, who suffers from asthma, lives with her grandmother, and has family problems of her own. Then one day while visiting a church member in the local hospital John accidently meets a blind man, Thomas Hill, who is suffering from the complications of his diabetes.
